In 2023, a record number of 1,011 million instant credit transfers were processed in Spain, with a growth of 22.8% compared to 2022. The new European Regulation on instant credit transfers is expected to boost their use among citizens and companies throughout Europe.

Spanish banks CaixaBank, Banco Santander and BBVA have processed international instant payments with banks in Australia, New Zealand, Brazil and the United Kingdom. This pilot anticipates the entry into force of the EPC’s new OCT Inst scheme in November.

Iberpay is the first CSM (Clearing & Settlement Mechanism) in Europe to obtain the approval certificate from the European Payment Council (EPC) to process operation based on the SEPA Request-to-Pay scheme to its entities.

The three main Andorran banks, Crèdit Andorrà, MoraBanc and Andbank, have joined the payment system managed by Iberpay. Iberpay provides the interbank rails necessary to process any payment service based on SEPA Instant Credit Transfer scheme (SCT Inst) throughout all the SEPA area.
